The Lady Behind Your Assessment
Hi there! I’m Cassie.
I'm not a horticulturist with a degree on the wall. I'm a home gardener who spent years figuring out — the hard way — why some spots in my yard worked beautifully while others struggled.
This service is the tool I wish had existed when I started.
My Story
I still remember the excitement of finally having a piece of land to call my own — and the urge to start growing something immediately. Within weeks of moving in, I was building raised beds.
I made two mistakes I didn’t realize were mistakes at the time. First, I placed my garden where it looked nicest in the yard. Second — which followed naturally from the first — I bought my house in November, when that spot happened to be catching the low winter sun beautifully. It looked bright and open. It seemed perfect. It wasn’t.
By summer, when sunlight actually mattered for growing vegetables, that area of my yard was getting far less light than I assumed. Meanwhile, other parts of the property that hadn’t caught my eye at first glance were sitting in full sun all day long. That first season’s harvest was disappointing. Tomatoes struggled, peppers barely grew, and I assumed I must be doing something wrong. So I tried everything. Fertilizer. Different watering schedules. Spacing plants differently. Companion planting. Every piece of advice I could find online. None of it worked — because I was solving the wrong problem. Eventually I realized something simple but important. My garden wasn't failing because I lacked skill. It was failing because I had put it in the wrong place.
Once I moved my beds to where the sun actually reached — not where I assumed it did — everything changed. Plants that had struggled for two seasons suddenly took off.
After years of observing, experimenting, and eventually getting my own garden producing reliably, I started helping neighbors and friends figure out the same thing. This service grew out of those mistakes, learning, and conversations. It's straightforward, honest, and designed to save you from the mistakes I made.
